Brake help needed
« on: July 04, 2007, 03:09 PM »
Right, I have never built a mid-school bike before and I have just bought myself a race frame from 1991.  It takes a normal caliper brake (i.e. the frame has a brake bridge not u-brake/v-brake mounts), what brakes would have been used on this frame in the 90's?

Def Pitbull (maybe with an oddy pozy stop seat clamp for the cable hanger).
Or a sidepull; DC Nipon, ACS boa ...

I thought that you used a MX880 on the front and 901 on the rear?

Then again what the hell do I know I was a racer and don't really know what an x-up is  :LolLolLolLol:

Chris is right!

Wrong era for the 901's

You need either a Pitbull, DC Nippon (which I actually thought were rubbish and only really worked with an ACS doubler...remember them?) Or an ACS BOA (which were ace until they exploded with bearings flying everywhere!)
