hi gt, yeah did the rims myself although they aren't quite finished yet just need a good buffing with the old pink wax stick, they are not the best but were quite scratched on the edges :-[
also did the pro-neck myself that was in a right state, a kind of pink ano with a lot of rust and a couple of gauges, will probably replace the centre bolts at some point, i had to polish them both due to major sheering :daumenhoch:

Have been looking for the v bars, but I've had these puppies for a couple of years now and they will get on the Carrera soon!!

I still need to decide on a re-chrome or clean up for the f+f first :-\

It would be a shame to trash those stickers.  What's the chrome like?

the chrome is not too bad, the forks have a few scratches and scrapes and there is a couple of places on the frame where the chrome has chipped. I'm sure from a couple of feet it would look fine!

I have these decals already to go for it though ;)

plus the PL 20's with the dot

redline chrome is poo isn't it but it seems to clean up fairly well, my problem is most of my components are nos or nearly nos, my frame however isn't, its the old toss up of whether to spend big for a rechrome or get the autosol out and be happy with what you have, mine too has fork scrapes and the odd scratches but hey it looks lovely and im not entering it for any shows!!!
as for all these stickers people are starting to post on here
i want them all.....  :-[
ps ron ..........i like carpet :daumenhoch:

Hey guys,

Just took delivery of my PL20 from the States today.... pretty pleased with it bearing in mind it's going to be re-chromed!
The dropouts are nice and smooth.... no grooving whatsoever! Redline Oval stamp on BB but no letters before the serial number!
Going to start work on repro-ing the decals tonight as I know some of you guys are after a set of the Red/Yellow ones... at least I've got originals to work off so they will be exact... 100% accurate!
.... and a bonus Red, Black and white Headtube sticker was stuck on the seat tube so I can get to work on that too!  :)
I'm going for the Red, Black and white decals on this as they have more of an Old School look in my opinion.... that style was more "my era"..... just got to get my mitts on original seat tube and downtubes sets but nobody want's to part with them!  :(
Anyways, here's some pics of it as it came.... let the PL20 tournament commence!!!

John

Nice one. The chrome may just clean up nice as is without the need for a rechrome, assuming that is not peeling round the headtube!! Looks very similar to mine, just mine does not have the gusset behind the seat tube.

 :LolLolLolLol:

Ya didn't need to rub it in about the triangle seat tube gusset mate.... I'd love one without but this is all I could get a hold of!
Reed a rechrome though as it's peeling around the headtube and another couple of spots!

So do ya wanna part with your Red, White and black decals then buddy?

That's a nice looking frame set you have there John  :)
I personally like mine having the triangular gusset behind the seatpost tube, and with your's missing the letter before the serial number, it's just the same as mine.  :coolsmiley: A little different from the masses is cool  i.m.o  8)
Your chrome on your frame looks way better than mine when it arrived. You've the same problem as me with the front drops tho (with the chrome peeling)  :'(.  One day mine will be powdered white, i've decided. Just not yet. So i'm happy to live with the drop outs for now.

I like the idea that the yellow / red fade decal sets may soon become available. I'll keep my ear to the ground  >:D nudge-nudge  :daumenhoch:
Although i'd probably be tempted with buying a couple of each set, of each type that become available. Note to self... i will decide on a scheme one day.

Daryl m8, yours is looking sweet now it's coming together. The Pro neck looks the buisness.  :daumenhoch:
Mine may actually be finished off tomorrow. There's a good chance i'll attempt to race it at the Bournemouth meet on sunday.
In at the deep end... Just what i like to see  ;).
I'll fit the chain tomorrow and take it out for a bit to see if it's as good a race bike as i'm expecting  :smitten:   Grem'.  :)

John,

Was not meaning to rub it in, as I think the gusset is rarer anyway, plus it would have been put there for a reason ;)

As for the earlier decals, I'm keeping them as the basis for starting to collect the necessary to complete an original Carrera too, sorry.

John,

I can't scan them at the moment as the scanner is storage until we move back into our house following re-modelling, but thereafter no problem.

i don't think i can use either of those other decals due to a long scuff down one side of my downtube which is currently hidden by the longer 85 set, shame :'(
good luck gav if you do race yours and im glad you are all finished m8 :daumenhoch:
i want to see some nice detailed snaps from you, i have actually managed to re work that new set of decals you sorted me, by instead of just having a straight join i carefully cut around the edge of the end section where the black meets the grey

you can just make out the join after the curve on the grey section but it certainly looks a lot better :daumenhoch:
