Sealed Bearings - oops.

Ok lets not point fingers and call names;

I for some reason ended up spraying teflon grease into my hubs.

It turns out, the spray was more like a WD40 type of thing -

I was kinda trigger happy and hadnt bothered reading the label.

So my wheels now spin insaneley fast when spinned with hand.

but when their ridden (weighted) the wheels are now really slow.

Is there some way I coud get some grease back into them?

Would silicone spray help?

The way i do them and any other sealed bearing is take them out and carefully take off the rubber seals both sides then soak bearings in petrol to get the grit out the pack the bearing with grease put back rubber seals. Takes time but hay beats watching big brother when the misses is hogging the tv

hmmm,

ive never had them out but i dont think thats possible.

they are like the cartridge bearings you get in a BB or skateboard wheels.

I dont think they come apart?

sealed bearing don't need oiling!!!

you can strip them though. bit fiddly. replace the bearings?

never use wd40 though, on anything other than grips and cables

it REMOVES grease!!
spray some in a freewheel and see how long it lasts!! (use one that you don't want though!)

I bought Duck Oil for the bits on my bike that do need oiling, bloody good stuff.  Hope it's ok to use it

in fact only use wd40 on grips
don't spray it in your cables - use regular oil.

it was teflon spray not wd40,

Im very familiar with how wd40 degreases stuff.

Id just bought it for using on my suspension fork legs (as suggested by rocks shox)

it was just there, i was sticking wheels on - the bearings looked grubby so I just did it.

It did turn out though that , sinilarily with wd40 it stripped most of the grease out.

Buy some new bearings, they only cost a couple of pound...

i use a stanley knife to carefully remove the outer cover
and packed mine with copper grease
profile bearings mine are
and did the bearings  in me hubs too
