Craig Campbell – Framestand Fakie – Still Rad?
« on: November 03, 2005, 10:34 PM »
Couldn't resist posting another pic from BMX Action Bike Feb '85 (last one honest), but I see Mr Campbell is a rider held in high esteem amongst the members here – me too. The trick was debuted in my home town of Edinburgh and he is riding the Scotia BMX quarter pipe (Scotia were one of the top BMX shops in Scotland at the time). A few of my mates were there, I wasn't  :'( Anyway, this trick went down a storm and he did it again in the Holeshot comp in London and won the championship. Do you reckon the framestand fakie is still rad today?  ??? There's no way I would attempt it  ;D

Here's a pic of Mike D doing an awesome fakie. The pedals must spin like hell when he hits the pipe and rolls back. Even if he had a coaster there's risk of locking the back wheel. Hats off!  :D

Carlo. got any photos? that would be well rad. I remember seeing mcCoy bail on one at the worlds in Manchester, and hit his head. He didn't know where he was.... Very crazy trick. did anyone ever hook up with them?  It's the only trick where its better to hook up the front wheel as opposed to the rear  ;D

Nice pic Stevo.....that brings back a few memories.
I think I was there that day.  Was that the demo at Meadowbank Stadium? I'm sure I remember Junior from Livi getting higher than anyone else of that ramp.

Hi,

I was there too, although it all seems a long time ago now. Anyway, on the subject of what happened to the old ramps, especially the Scotia ones, well, ,my mates and I bought two of them and kept them in our home town of Troon, Ayrshire. The first one was all-wooden, about 6' wide, painted white with a blue arrow up the front and the Scotia logo at the top. This ramp always wanted to tip over backwards, and was forever propped up with pieces of timber. Problem was, the arrangeemnt of this timber meant that the ramp was different almost every time you hit it, sometimes undervert sometimes over, sometimes not supported at all, and would topple over backwards while you rode up.

The other one was a bigger metal framed one, which folded out to include a towhitch and proper wheels, so it could be towed behind a car, I think it was made by Vincent. This was a good pipe - we were too young to drive, so we kept it at someone's house, and we used to sit on it to counterbalance it and push it to the local schoolyard to use it - happy days! That pipe was the business at the time, though I'm sure it's probably not as big as I remember it being.

Both ramps ended up at the local bmx track which by then had seen better days. We built them into a sort-of half-pipe arrangement along with a mini ramp - lots of options how to ride it, all of them crap. It gets very windy in Troon, and they ended up blowing away during a storm, never did see them again - shame, really.

Check the date of the thread  :idiot2:

Also if an admin had deleted the pics then it would say so at the bottom, just like this one  :daumenhoch:

I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,
