i'm not sure but if you have coaster skyways you can remove the the arm that connects to the frame, turning it into a freecoaster
i altered a suntour coaster one time by taking out the shoes, to make it a freecoasterstill had to attach the arm though

i think you always have to use the armas the freecoaster adapter is switchable on the fly between brake and no brakeand for brake you need the arm!!put some tape around the tube, or a piece of inner tube. that'll protect it from the coaster arm strap
