Personlly I think the bike build is an excellent idea, to think there are people out there that dont even know you thinking of you at a time like that would only make ME feel better for sure, but I am not well known for making the best decisions in the world either, having said that if the build goes ahead I am willing to let my Blue Z's go to an excellent cause.

A Sapulpa soldier is still fighting for his life more than a week after a massive roadside bomb left him critically injured in Iraq. The 22-year-old Army Specialist barely survived surgery in Baghdad. Family members say his strength got him back stateside where doctors are operating on him again Monday. Specialist Shane Vincent is being called a hero. The News On 6’s Heather Lewin reports military officials told the family that Shane Vincent, at the wheel of his Humvee, spotted the IED's trigger and swerved at the last minute, avoiding the brunt of the 1-ton blast and likely saving lives.

After 9/11, Shane Vincent wanted to defend his country, so he left behind a new wife, a promising career and a pro sports title to go to Iraq. Just a few months from the end of his extended tour, it happened.

"You don't want to get that phone call, when they say, you know, are you the parents of Shane Vincent," said Shane Vincent’s father Paul Vincent.

They told him his son was critically injured by an IED and rapidly losing blood. Another soldier at his side was killed.

"The commander said it was a miracle anybody had survived that type of a blast," Paul Vincent said.

Shane Vincent lost consciousness on that road outside Baghdad and hasn't awakened since, but doctors are seeing some improvement. Grateful his son is alive, Paul Vincent knows another fear is looming.

A body builder and world-class athlete, Shane Vincent won the BMX Grand Nationals in Tulsa. He's also an Olympic hopeful, planning to qualify when he returned home. As doctors now try to mend his shattered vertebrae, his father fears that's not all that's been broken.

“I think some of his dreams have been shattered. We're just praying now that he can walk," said Paul Vincent. “And I ask my question why, why him? But then it would've been someone else."

He says his son was strong enough to survive; maybe he took the place of another who wouldn't have.

“I told him to give me a call when he wakes up, so I'm sort of anxious for that," Paul Vincent said.

Another soldier in Shane Vincent's Humvee also survived. His wife and mother are at his side at Walter Reed Medical Center.

We’re told he is out of surgery at this hour and while not yet fully awake, he is responding to their voices and squeezing their hands.

Paul Vincent says not just his son, but every soldier is a hero.

Any more donations to the bike?

Wow,that is very sad. :'(
My prayers go out to his buddies families.

Not only should we send him some get well cards but how about..............we do an 80's build with donated parts from all of us collectors,it won't have to be anything like a looptail quad or anything just something 80's that will look cool (Mix-matched parts don't matter).
After we can get some info about his home addy the finished build could be sent to him,is he a brit or yank or ....??
If he's in the US I will build it with the donated parts & send it off to him,if he's near you guys it may be easier to get it done there but I'm up for a parts donation. :daumenhoch:

Any thoughts guys?

I've attempted to contact the guy from revtec but still no reply yet  :( he claims to be a close friend of Shanes since Shane rode for them.
I'll attempt to contact Shane directly & see if I can, hopefully I can sneak the info from him without giving the surprise away. :daumenhoch:

If all goes well I'll get the info & the build can progress,if not then we'll just have to settle with the card thing. :-[

Soz mate, sure no malice intended, things get lost in threads here all the time.

Hope Shane's health is improving, can you update us as and when you have time, know it's difficult with being close n stuff but we're all thinking of him and anxious that he heals quick.

Not sure what religion he is so hope he wouldn't be offended but i'm gonna try and get to Mass tomoz and light a candle for him.

Gettin things sorted over the pond, have you had support, speak to Mo Tillmon, sure he'l get something sorted in Illinois if he aint already.

Hey Grumpy. :)

I didn't think you were the same guy who I attempted to contact,I came across him on another site & thought he was a different person.
Sorry about the confusion  :-[  He/you?  never replied to my email,I'll check again just in case he did recently.

I'd still need to get Shanes info though,if it gets built I wanna make sure he gets it & that the members who donated stuff don't think I'm scamming stuff for my own build.  :daumenhoch:

Well first off I'd need his home address,I want to make sure we have a place to send it before it gets built. :daumenhoch: (You can email me if you like) admin@rosbmx.net
You guys are in Oklahoma?

So far I just asked people to look thru their stuff for red or blue parts for it,I've heard about bars & rims so far,I'm down for the f/f & chain.
So as far as getting it built we need everything else,it does not have to be anything extravagant but in good condition at least.I will build it & ship it to him on my dime, since most of you are in the UK you'd have to ship the stuff to me.If you guys/gals have stuff to donate to the build & wanna contribute, that'd be great & I'd appreciate it,all donated parts will be used on this build only & you'll get proper credit for what you donated. :daumenhoch:

If I start a new thread showing parts donated/parts needed, could we get either the admin or a mod to sticky it at the top?

I'll get it started asap, the thread will be called "The Shane Vincent Project".
I'll put up the pics of the f/f & chain again, the people donating parts if possible should post a pic of the parts they wish to donate, that way we can get an idea of what's going on in case somebody has a better option for a specific part. ;D
