Burner...tubing what was it called...

Just got shown another frame,its defo a burner but not an Aero Pro,did Raleigh have some tubing called carbo 23 or something like that BITD.. :daumenhoch:

dont know bout the tubing

but i do know the welding was a highly concentrated mixture

of hubba bubba and toffo,s ;)

I dont wanna slag burners, each to his own and all that. I used to have one, from 82 to 83. Anyway, a mate just picked up a mk1 burner frame from a car boot sale. I was totally amazed at just how bad the welding was and how awful the tubes connect to the BB. I remembered that the down tube was just squashed flat and welded on, but the chain stays were the same. I cant believe they didnt all just pop apart when they were sat on.

I think it was just the mk1s that were like that. The mk2s had better joins, tubes that were actually cut ... at an angle that met up with the joining tube! Im not sure tho, Im sure someone else can tell you better than me.

i must admit bitd i had my mk1 mag burner for 1 year and the only thing i broke was the simplex mags  :-\  :LolLolLolLol:

mine still had the friggin weld spatter on it under the paint :-[ scruffy gets. yet i still have one ???

i think the mk1's had "carbospec 23" written on the forks

and the welding/joins on the mk2s were comical too.

There are various with Carbo Spec 23 tubing... ALL the mk1's with exception of the Pro Burner + the MK2 standard Red Burner, Black Burner,  Mag Burner & Mini Burner.
