mid school bar ID?
« on: July 16, 2007, 06:59 PM »
these came on the old standard 125 i got last week,

i thought initially they could be standard strips as everything else on the bike was standard,

after looking through a few old catalogues i'm not so sure,

the crossbar is fatter than the rest of the bar, they could be Solid "turn bars" but the shape looks different,

thanks in advance for any idea's :daumenhoch:

I'm with you on the O/S crossbar and Solid Joe, the knurling confuses me a bit but the welding is too nice for generic bars. Hmmmmmmmmmm.

Shape looks too nice for GT, I may be wrong (it wouldn't be the first time!)

I say its a solid bikes bar.

when I was the disributor for standard, we saw a lot of different shaped 2pc strip bars with even different widths etc.
Also concidering the bar is raw and not painted, I doubt this is a GT bar ..... how many midschool products do you remeber GT making not in chrome.

I am no help in this area, sorry, just wondered if my eyes were playing tricks on me,  or is the right hand side knurling considerably deeper and broader?( our right hand side ,left side  on actual bars).

The Solid bars had a 1" crossbar.  The factory that made them also made 2 others brands of identical bars, you could identify them by crossbar size and knurling, or lack of. I can't for the life of me remember the names though, sorry.

If those bars have a genuine 1" crossbar, then I'd say Solid. I don't recall another bar with that size crossbar.   :)

Might they be Xposure bars?

I remember them having a very low crossbar and severe knurling to them...........I think I still have a set of Xposures somewhere, maybe I should have a look!
