A little more history
« on: April 23, 2007, 06:34 PM »
After the epic sidehack ride with the Red Baron, I continued on with the history fest by going to Rick Twomey's house.  Again, he and Patti were great hosts and had the oportunity to hang with some great people.  While I was searching through the garage, i found some treasures.  Mind you, these two are pictures of pictures but still pretty historical.

First one from a "Lightining Bolt" poster. I "fixed" it a little bit as it was bit torn

The second one from a High Gear publication.  Notice the bike?

I have a few more items, but for now that's it.  Again thanks To Rick Twomey for sharing some history

Mike, that is indeed Friendly Fred and if you look close, he is riding a cruiser.

Here's two More pictures and some info by Rick Twomey:

Legendary monkey Doug Takahashi riding a Rick's Bike Shop custom made frame for Rick's Bike Shop at Soledad Sands around late 1972 or early 1973 jan or feb as Doug is wearing a rick's tshirt/jersey
and trees dead in winter.

and one of Thom Lund riding an early Twomey designed single guesset Webco at Yarnell sometime in 74.

He is also riding For RBS and the picture was taken as part of a photo shoot for an early Webco catalog and also for a Sizzler steak house promotion.

The trickness factor was high already in 74.  Check out the Simi Motomags and the "cigar" chainstays (rather than the traditional "cigar box" behind the bottom bracket.

Patti Twomey was involved too and just as a pit-tootsie.  Check out this front page article from Ernie Alexander's "Bicycle Scene" July 1974

JP and Doug at BUMS.  Check out the killer Schwinn Springer fork

JP and Doug again.  this time at Soledad

Crazy pictures!  If you are a hacker you gotta love them...
