I have to agree with Rich, the racers just don't seem to realise how stupid they look these days. Tight elasticated race pants with silly 'disco slippers' just look so geeky. An element of cool has to start getting back into BMX Racing or it is gonna fall on its ass.
I remember first seeing John Lee racing, he was wearing a motobike helmet and huge Doc Marten boots - he thrashed everyone Ruddy hell, I'm going back a bit there Flatties all the way

Can you imagine clips at Hersden.
Quote from: Zippy on May 08, 2007, 12:59 PMCan you imagine clips at Hersden. Simon my James uses clips regularly at Hersden as he does at most meetings because he's actually better with them on. As a 'Sunday rider' competing in 13 - 14 years he's up against quite a few guys clipped in but because he doesn't train or race regularly he needs the 'pull' as well as the 'push' to keep up with his peers. That said, he can ride flats and will do so at the South Champs in September. He bought his own Mallet C pedals and shoes which are actually the easiest to detach from as they cannot be tensioned up for better attachment - that's when you see the bikes follow the rider down. Do I approve of clips?? Well, it's progress as is carbon-fibre parts and titanium but as Flemdog has just proven if you're fit enough you can win on flats, so is there really a problem?? HumpsPS: Can't see the Flying Fox or Teapot staying away from this thread now!!
now where are the clip racers for their views???
