I've got a pair of green ones and find them very flexy! in my oppinion they are third in line down the pecking order behing....

Tuffs
Aero Zytecs
Acorn Mags

Not bad if your feather weight though......I put my green ones on my Lads DB and he loves em.....but then he only weights 2 stone soaking wet  :daumenhoch:

Depends on what ones you have, there were two designs and one was too thin in the spoke dept and made them impossible to ride on.

Pickle, allow me to edit your list:

Campagnolo Graphite Tuffs
Alloy Hubbed Tuffs
Steel hubbed tuffs
Plastic hubbed tuffs
ACS Z Mags
Perigrine Graphite Mags
OGK Mags
GT Mags
Motomags
Lester Mags
Zytecs
Raleigh 5 Spoke mags
Acorn 2's
Raleigh 7 Spoke mags
Bernardi
Acorn 1's

Many more, but cant be arsed any more

What a great "Mag" list. were motomags so heavy that they fell wayyyyyy down off the list?

what load of crap  (seriously expected better of you mr orb :LolLolLolLol:)

not even in price order as peregrines are far more expensive than z mags. zytecs and acorn 2s are on a par with each other although zytecs are more desirable but the acorn2 is the better wheel (ever so slightly less flexy and sealed bearings) motomags, lesters and raliegh 5 spokes, cool for very specific builds but you'd never use them on a rider. and the graphite tuffs should be well down the list coz they where pure shite, they cracked n shattered like fook, id much sooner have acorn2s on a rider i was using to jump with than graphites anyday, acorns and zytecs do flex but not enough to cause a problem (unless your really heavy) and if you were, then tuffs would fook up before them as they give less. ive never ridden z-mags so cant comment but bet they hold up as well as tuffs. and the placky hubbed tuffs are better and stronger if you gonna ride em hard.

i ride tuffs almost exclusively so no bias here, would ride acorn2s just as happily and have done, but like most im a bit of a wheel snob so prefer to use tuffs, which is exactly why acorn2's are not appreciated for the decent wheel they are.

in a nut shell, acorns are good but no one's gonna be awe stuck by them :daumenhoch:

Acorn 1's and 2's??? :-\

Acorn magnum and Acorn Freestyle dudes.

Magnums are virtually useless to any rider over 5 stones, due to their lacklustre composition.

Freestyle are a reasonable alternative to Tuff II, with a superior hub.

I feel Skyway got it right with the Tuff II, and anything else is just academic.

Nice list though ;D

suppose it all goes with personal preferance.

some good points there, I suppose its all down to weather you want it for a rider, for a show bike, or just on price, for example, the Campy Graphites hold by far the most desire, but you would not ride on them as you would be scared to damage something with such a price tag and rarity.

I did not try to put it into price order, although, there is a bit of a pattern.

I donno, I stick with my theroy that Tuffs are the best wheels for me, thats what I ride on and I love them

Acorn Freestyle, with sealed bearing hub.

Look closely on the spoke, 'ACORN FREESTYLE',  :daumenhoch:

nobody masturbates as much as you :LolLolLolLol:

they are the freestyle ones, they are the first mags i had, the hubs look cool on them though i reckon.  i gave my pair away to stuntmaster though because they were a bit shagged

I have some white Mags in the loft that say 'Perigrine Master' on them in white,

Tthey look like nylon to me, how do they stack up compared to the others?

They have nice strong looking hubs and are completely straight still

acorn freestyle wheels were pretty good
about as good as aero zytecs

the hubs lasted longer than skyways (as anyone who actually rode them seriously would tell you)

but they were always budget - only 37 quid a pair, back in 85. which weren't bad really.

mags on the whole were the budget option, as a decent set of alloys would set you back a lot more.

as for what they are worth? very little i'd imagine. sorry. if you can get 30 bangers for them then you are doing well. i bought a set of NOS zytecs for only 20 quid off the bay not too long ago.

the collectors only want tuffs nowadays. but back in the day the acorn freestyles were a popular wheel. they sold em in halfords!!!

I just put some 16" Acorn Freestyles on my son's bike and they look great, only problem is the freewheel is fooked. Anyone have a spare Acorn rear hub they want to get rid of?!!!
That would be an issue I'd say when choosing wheels - spares availability. Skyways seem to be much better for bits when you need 'em, compared to some of the alternatives. Now that I've got problems with the Acorns I wish I'd just paid more and bought Skyways :(

can't you just unscrew the freewheel?
