SPEEDWAY
« on: April 18, 2007, 05:17 PM »
Anyone watched it live  ::)

Now I know you're probably thinking it's all over by the first corner but believe me it's exciting stuff to watch live and a good night's entertainment to boot, with the exhaust  noise and great smell of Methanol.  Utter respect to these guys, no brakes on 500cc machines that do  0-60 in under 3 seconds :shocked:, and when they wipe out, they wipe out big style.

Did you know ex mongoose, skyway haro rider, Chris young raced speedway after retiring from BMX :daumenhoch:

I used to watch it all the time at hackney, and I used to do a bmx demo in the car park with Andrew silver before the start of the racing
A long time ago, in a land far away!

I first went to speedway before I was even born, my Mum still went when she was pregnant. I was even caught up in the white city bomb scare in the early/mid 70s at the worlds there.

I used to go all the time when they raced at MK, now I would have to go to Peterborough or Oxford I guess. So I have to settle for watching it on SKY sports :(

I've become more and more interested in it over the last couple of seasons, the sky coverage is excellent and twice a week too.

I'm not far from Ipswich so am hoping to make a trip to see the real thing soon.

Just got back from Swindon VS Cov Bees at Swindon , Swindon ended the Bees unbeaten 8 match winning streak .

Leigh Adams flying for Swindon , Chris "Bomber" Harris flying for Coventry . Scott Nicholls had a couple of good wins for Cov later on after a disappointing start to the meeting , Harris coming through to 2nd after starting 15m behind as a tactical  :shocked:

Quality Evening  :4_17_5:

A mate of mine used to do speedway, he was on the swindon team (even tho he lives in Oxford, he said the Oxford team were crap).

Any of you remember Sean Scarf (top rider from the 90s who BMXed in the circus for a while with Zack Shaw)? He used to race grass track and speedway ... or thats what it said on the side of his van! ha ha.
