who is going to build a late midschool ride?
« on: April 14, 2007, 06:59 PM »
With all this revamp in midschool nostalgia I wondered who was going to do a heavy style midschool bike.
Arround 1998 bike weight got silly, and could easily be 20+kg.

I tried a friends warpig with a motorcycle chain, fat sprocket, 48 spoke wheels, 14mm axles, homemade pegs, no brakes, fat rims, fat spokes ... etc ...
And at that point honestly wondered how far this super strong fad was going to last.

As a distributor at the time we even got into logitical problems as we couldnt ship 1 or 2 khe bikes as they had gone over the 20kg era, and our shipping company wouldnt take more than 20kg packages at a time.

so has anyone got a "fatty" in progress? lol

i'M, planning a "heavy" build! just as a comparison with my stupidly light bike i want to build the heaviest bike possible,

my mates got a survivor warpig in his garage waiting for me to collect,

does anyone know what THE heaviest frame would have been?

kinik empire revision  b, solid duke/killing machine, 2-hip pork, s&m sabbath, are the frames i've been thinking about so far,

what i really want is an s&m nextgen holmes, i remember mine actually weighed in at nearly 9lbs!

if anyone knows of a nextgen holmes anywhere i'd be very grateful!

any ideas for heavy parts too?

some of the parts I can think of being Uber heavy.

1. Solid bikes 1" Cranks
2. KHE ramp Square Bar.
3. 96 spoke wheels with tripplewall rims and 13 gauge spokes laced to old G-sport hubs with primo wall tires and fat tubes.
4. Moped chain
5. Dragonfly 6mm thick steel powerdisk

Dont forget, most of us used to ride with 2 tyres on each wheel!!! Sometimes we would cut the bead of the inside one ... but not always!

:wtf: would you want to do that for? Does it stop pinch flats or something?  Did it work at all?

stopped pinch flats .... and made the bike run really slow and heavy and sluggish with a pressureless dead spot beneeth the outer tyre. We were all happy when Primo finally bought out a good tyre that could take high pressure and wasnt paper thin!

Ive got a pair of BASIC bars. Similar shape to standard but they were all large dia, with the grip / lever part normal dia and inserted into the large dia. Whats better than a heavy tube? One heavy tube inside another!

i own this 97 gt tour, i think it weighs 31-33 lbs,
