GT PERFORMER HELP
« on: April 13, 2007, 04:51 PM »
Hi all,

Ive just picked up a GT frame. I know that the bike is probably an 86 poss 85 cos it has the 4 holes in the drop outs, a brace in between the chain stay, a little cable clip built in under the bb and also has the serial number under the bb.

I have checked the site and others for info on the definite year but i have hit a blank.

The serial number is DS70983261.
(The 983261 is  stamped smaller and a little bit higher than the DS70).

Does anyone know what year this is or where it was built??

Also i cant believe how heavy the frame is!!! Is this normal?

Thanks all.  :daumenhoch: im new to GT's

it sounds like one of the taiwan made frames (87) which are nearly 2 pounds heavier than the early ones.

i have an 84 performer frame that weighs 4.65 lbs

and a 87 performer frame that weighs 6.42 lbs

quite suprising realy ???
