I did it to mine. Just use common sense. Slow gentle heat to the "fluffy" scuffed area should clean them up. Keep moving the flame and dont leave it over one spot, that will melt it.  It doesn't work miracles though, so dont be tempted to apply too much heat to a single area.

My latest arrival. These are one of my favourite items for this bike. 175mm Profile made GT cranks were always an essential part of this build. Chuffed!

I've been patiently waiting for some more bits to arrive. The latest to come in this morning are these:

36h 10mm axle flip flop Mohawk hubs ordered off BMX Museum, came in from Canada.

Some other bits which arrived over the last month or so...

NOS off eBay

Won these on a UK eBay auction. Might strip them back to silver.

43t Overdrive chain ring from BMX Museum

I bb cups were red, I dipped them in caustic soda to remove the anodising.

All I need now are:
36h Super 7Xs in chrome
Dia Comp 985 cantis
MX 99 lever!

I dont think Hellchops has managed to get back on here since the crash (told me he hasnt received a confirmation mail since re-registering) so thought Id just post this up in here to keep it alive. I managed to find these few bits for his build and will hand them over to him when I see him next. With these he should be pretty much done.

USA made GT top load stem to replace his Taiwan made one.

27mm micro adjust GT post.

Some OE spec 985 DC cantis with Original GT Kool Stop pads to replace the rubbish V brake.

It's been a while! The Fueler was 'built' ages ago, but after a some logging in issues and being preoccupied, I haven't been posting. The Fueler currently looks like this (except I now have silver GT pedals on it)

Since I bought this, I've been on the hunt for a decent set of Super 7Xs in 36h and I've finally found some! I have pair, laced to US made polished Mohawk hubs en route from the USA - buzzing! Tan walls were also always the preferred choice for this bike and I now have a pair of rainbow label Comp IIIs (1.75/2.125) that will go on the 7Xs. Lastly, I have an Izumi chain that'll be going on soon shortly. After that, it's be pretty much exactly what I want.

After looking for nearly three years, I finally got my hands on a decent set of 36h Super 7Xs to finish off my Fueler. I've also changed the black AA Pros for a staggered set of tan wall rainbow label Comp IIIs and fitted an Izumi chain in place of the cheaper KMC that was on it. I have some minor details to attend to, but this is pretty much spot on now. I must thank Jon Sherwood for helping source a few bits on this bike, and I owe Leigh Ramsdell and Greg Illingworth both a huge favour for getting these wheels to the UK (from Omaha via Raleigh NC and Cape Town!)
