ok, my twin top tube, and my diamond back venom ahve a wierd headset size. They have threaded forks, but the headset is bigger than 1" but smaller than 1 1/8".
Any ideas?
I used an 1" headset on my DB and shimmed it to fit the head tube.
i already had the headset with my other frame.
Local bike shops have no idea!

i took the 1" headset out my ammaco, and it was too small for my diamond back.
Took the frame to a few bike shops but the couldnt find anything to fit it.
Looks like my new ttt has the same headtube.
Its all very wierd.
I bought some 1" bearings for my ttt cos i thought it was 1", but they are way smaller than whats already in it.

I dont really like shimming a headset thats too small, if i can find out whats going in i can get a proper headset for the DB.

you will find this problem on a few budget & old school frames as my brother is forever building up bikes for the kids on the estate out of old parts..

I think, maybe there was such a thing as a 1 1/16" headset.... It's ringing a distant bell in my head. God knows where you'd get one though

well at least theres some recognition about it.
Where is headset size measured? inside the head tube or the outside of the stearer tube?

Yeah I think I found the same, I was pulling apart my Dp and found that the headset I'd fitted long ago the cups rattled around the tube, So I went upto my local bike shop and asked wether they had any. They gave me the same size ones, So in desperation I took the cup's down to Halfords.
When I compared them to the ones they sell for BMX's(1" Threaded) they are smaller By a gnats so I think they vary depending on bike type.
I'd suggest you take them down there and have a look at The db or Ti 1" threaded headsets they sell.
