Fitting a rear MX1000 to a Quad.
« on: April 08, 2007, 05:42 AM »
I'm trying to get an MX1000 to fit to a Quadangle's rear brake mount but it seems that the brake was designed to fit a tube-type brake mount, not a flat one, as on a Quad.

The back of the brake doesn't fit flush to the brake mount and so doesn't tighten properly to the mount. What to do? Is it something stupidly simple, like finding a washer? If it is, will someone please tell me where I can get one, as i've looked in half a dozen hardware stores and can't find anything to do the job.

Cheers in advance.

Hi ya mate, yes i think it is as simple as changing the curved type washer, i could be wrong but you might just need two more of the curved ones, as when you put the two together they create a flat surface to clamp too?  try your local bike shop? or an old crappy brake that you don't want to use?

Good advice indeed fellas. It never even occured to me to put the two curved washers together but I tried it and it works a treat. Easy when you know how eh? Thanks again.
