the word 'EXTREME'
« on: March 28, 2007, 01:25 PM »
when did BMX become EXTREME?? where the fook did this ridiculous term spring from?? it makes me think of extreme unicycling or extreme sledging

I would call going on a 48 hour bender with Team Sano EXTREME. In this case I think the word is used correctly and the hangover would be pretty fooking EXTREME too!

please discuss...

i guess it can be classed as extreme.  i guess it's because we do stuff on our bikes that regular people wouldn't dare try.

it is differnet to things like football, pool etc where everyone can kick a ball or anyone can hit a pool ball.  Not everyone can jump out of a bowl or air vert.  that's what makes it extreme IMO.

how about because it could potentially be life risking or at least the risk of serious injury.

it became extreme in 1995

it was a new way to market bmx to tv audiences

without that, it probably wouldn't be what it is today.

the phrase "extreme" was heavily mocked by the bmx gen public in 1996. but it did the sport good in the long run

didn't realise people still use it though!

i don't think it really is classed as extreme unless you watch the top riders.

it is more to do with a lot of BMX being shown on the "Extreme Channel"

That would be "Extremely Extreme" :LolLolLolLol:

Its funny how the more you say that word the more stupid it sounds. ???
I don't think I've ever done anything extreme on my bike. I've taken some other things to the "extreme" though.... :crazy2:
