Please help me justify...
« on: March 19, 2007, 11:12 PM »
Background: I used to have a Skyway, I want another one. However, i'm buying the other love of my teenage years, a Haro Gen 1 instead. I ALSO want a GT Pro Performer as I loved those too.

The trouble and strife is happy with me building one bike. Her smile went a bit crooked when I mentioned that I may also like to build a Skyway T/A.

How can I placate her when I tell her I also want to build myself a Pro Performer too?

If anyone knows the answer, it's you lot!  :)

All help gratefully received.

Oh, Dj_benice, you were right when you posted in my 'Saying Hi' thread that addiction starts here. Damnit!  :LolLolLolLol:

Does she say to you i am going to buy a pair of shoes and i also want to get a handbag and new coat

NO

She buys one and then a little later she buys the handbag, then the new coat

Once you finish your bike, then oops i managed to bid on another frame and i won it !!

Thats how i am on my thirdbike  :)

You made one mistake.

You told her what you are doing.

You made one mistake.

You told her what you are doing.

true, but I only told her about the second bike. I haven't mentioned the GT I want to get yet  ;D

I like the idea of bidding ona  few things on Ebay to maximse my chances and "oops I accidentally bought another bike, dearest, oh well. Butterfingers" idea too.  :D

Thanks you two.

Anyone else have any ideas, keep 'em coming.

What's to justify, you're an adult, it's your money, spend it how you like.  And drag yourself out from under that thumb while you're at it. ;)

Equally valid point. Can't argue with that.  :daumenhoch:

I use two ways of getting round this.......

1. I keep all my bits at work so she can't see em
2. for the little bits like grips, chain wheels, even bars and stems....i just tell her that i've swapped it for something (that has disapeared and gone to work instead of at home) or just say that a kind mate of mine off Rad sent it too me for free as he didn't want it  :daumenhoch:

just buy her something that she'd like too
something that aint a sofa, a new washing machine - something just for her.

PMSL your all incorrigible

get stuff delivered to work then tell her you bought it at a car boot sale for buttons (if struggling for how to fill time when allegedly at car boot look up your local park, track or pub ;) )

My missus now knows all the delivery folk, if it weren't for the parts building up in the garage I'd be sure she was having an affair ;D

I started out by saying I am restoring something I always wanted as a nipper that was fine, as for the rest of the stuff I suggested to her I was buying stuff in to restore and sell on, she still keeps asking when I'm selling stuff, so my answer now is that I'm holding on to this valuable collection because the way the market is going it is an astute investment - bit like first cover books etc :2funny:

Tel her it could be a lot worse

you could gentlemans relish your money on hoes and crack

and the fact that these bikes are valuable and will get you fitter should work

although i have a great missus who just looks on in bewliderment and counts her chickens as she knows that i could be gentlemans relishing my money of hoes and crack so she is happy, plus if that dosent work , and to be fair it may not

tell her that its a hobby , like stamp collecting but you will get out the house , meet new friends who do not gentlemans relish there cash on hoes and crack and it will get you fitter

Like wise, she offered him a cup of tea the other day  :-[         :LolLolLolLol:

Tell her it's an investment, because these bikes are worth a fourtune when returned to original glory and can only increase in Value,Which will help when times are bad. :daumenhoch:

Thats what i told my Misses............................

Ruler wins it.

I spoke to my nearest and dearest and she said "You could build the T/A for me".

Now, of course it means I have to build two T/A's, as I want one too. However, all is now settled. Many months of building and spending vast sums of money, here we come!  :2funny:
