Araya Shineside Advice Needed
« on: March 16, 2007, 12:06 PM »
I recently won a set of Black Araya 7X Shinesides on the bay. They're in resonable condition but aren't showbike mint. I knew that when I bought them so I'm in now way dissapointed.  :daumenhoch:

However i'm about to send them off to be reanodized and then polished so that they look like new. The question really is what colour should i have them done. I was going to go for black again but I'm tempted to go for Blue. Both would go with my bike.

What would you guy's suggest.

If it's for the white aero pro, then blue would look awesome.  :4_17_5:

It is but I'm getting a set of Araya Aero's done at the same time, so they could well go on there.

Well if you ever choose to sell them black seem to be rarer and fetch more money. Does it cost much to get them done?

The process is actually quite time consuming and will cost betwen 45-50.

First they strip the anodising off. Then they polish to a mirror finish. This helps get rid of slight scratches and such like. Then it's off to be anodised black again. This will cover the sidewalls of the rim as well. Then they mask the rim up and then strip the sidewalls again. Then they finish by polishing the rim again. I get them back re sticker them with cbrgil's excellent Araya decals and Bob's your uncle they look like new again.

I think I'll get them done in black then. I'm having my Araya aero's anodised blue at the same time do I'll have a choice of wheels to go on there. I had thought of putting the Shinesides on my TA but I don't know what to do with that now.

Nice

The Blue aeros will look so so so nice on that aero pro

get them done black as they are way rarer . watch the araya logo as re annoing rims removes a slight layer of aluminium ,nd with re polishing you may lose the araya bit

i had some done and learnt by expirience
