That is why IMO it is THE most iconic BMX. Whatever came after it is irrelevant. I know the Ripper had been in production since the late 70s compared to the early 80s for the Burner, but they hadn't really hit our shores or got any notoriety until the craze really took off and the Burner is one of the bikes that helped the craze take off. So the Ripper should thank the Burner for that!

Zed, the only problem is that Buff didn't ride a stock Ripper at all, it was a specially made one with thicker tubes, etc. It just looked like a Ripper

You got me there, just a beefier version of a Ripper

Cool to see the pics of the old Westway track even if it is a Burner

. Just noticed the Heff's sticker on the green forks in the last pic of Ruffs

Perhaps there are two aspects to this Icon lark, to a BMXer from the inside looking out a true BMX bike like the Ripper or TA is the Iconic bike but to the public who are outsiders looking in, then the Burner is probably the Icon

not at all, the trusted old mongoose around 79/80 was the bike to have,

everyone around where we lived payed into a club at our local bike shop,

can't remember how much i paid a week but when it was paid up,

never looked back, still love the sport today, i'd say more today

TA for me but i always wanted a ripper. Its close with the votes between the two!!! I thought the ripper would be miles clear of it. Burner will win obviously cos they were common as muck but a true great.

i voted ripper, even tho ive never been fussed, but then i remembered browsing through the museum a couple of years ago and there was a bike i glanced upon that brought those long hot early eighties old school summers back to me in an instant, and although i like to jest about them, there is probably nothing more evocative than an "extra burner"

youd have to sell alot of lucky heather to buy one now
