Even though I don't like them very much I would say it would be the Raleigh Burner. Even people who were not really into BMX in the 80's mention a Raleigh Burner when BMX is mentioned.

Myself i like a Gen1  :daumenhoch:

I'm sorry to have to say this....but a Burner for me.......if it wasn't for the horrible Burner (of which i loved mine BITD) an awful lot of kids would never of had the pleasure of BMX!

All the rest (for me) were never an option.....just dream bikes.

Had to add one too. But, I didn't vote for it...

For me it has to be the Raleigh Burner.

Where else would we be without the bike that bought BMX to the masses?

It's the bike that supported a whole industry on it's shoulders by encouraging trial of the sport at a low price...people got hooked, and then upgraded to a decent bike that suited their needs.

A true icon.

Gotta be the PK Ripper for me , I remember reading BMX Weekly & other mags and the Shiners ad stood out beyond all others  :4_17_5:.

The Burner was the start for loads to go on to greater things so I understand the voting for that , I never had one or wanted one though so I could'nt say it was an Icon for me .

My 1st proper BMX was a Pro Star then GT Pro .

Sums it up as only Phil could!

Matt, knowing what we know now, no-one would have wanted a burner, but as a thirteen year old kid seeing a blue and yellow vision with weird yellow wheels, was a massive turning point in a lot of lives.  :buck2:

Without a doubt it's gotta be the Skyway T/a.  Track, park, wherever. It was there.  :daumenhoch:

if a Ripper was a Lambo, the what was the Burner ? The Ford Escort ???

I guess it depends how you define 'iconic' ? As accessable to the masses ? Or desired but unattainable by most ?  ::)

Never had a Burner myself btw, not then, not now, not ever !  :D ;D

I cast my mind back to when i was a kid and there was only one bike for me and that was the Performer, freestyle was my thing and the bike that was all over my walls was the Performer.
