RACE PLATES
« on: March 07, 2007, 11:06 PM »
I noticed a few really cool race plates on Sunday. Stu "Zippy dixon" had an original 80s plate he managed to keep as had Sam "Nishiki14", lets see your plates you had from Bitd, or replica plates :daumenhoch:

The motomag was a strret rider/dirt jumper and the Supergoose with the Bottemas is my Skatepark bike. I had a looptail PK as my race bike. It had a white series one plate and was signed by Bob Haro! It was sold in 1988 for $250 au with Campy Graphites.  :uglystupid2:

Ghost rider, Thats the Nidderdale Nomads track at Darley, near Harrogate.

Whats your name? thats the late and great Jason McCroy gettins squirley alongside you there and if I'm not mistaken no. 10 behind you is Stuart Renton fro the Dambuster Club at Yeadon, Leeds.

Haha. Along long time ago!

That number on you plate will have been your NBMXA licence/race number, this is a little spooky because Jason has 272 and mine back then was 271

That was my thoughts - that must have been the year before he shot up in height! He was always head and shoulders above others on the gate if I remember correct...

I always remember Jason from bitd, he raced in the same age group as my friend Lee Robinson (year below me) - was it around 85 he used to turn up at meetings even though he couldn't ride after he did he knee? I remember one summer at Whickham thorns, him with his dad - him on crutches...

Yes a big lad for his age Jason, i lined up against him many times bitd in 84 and he was much bigger than me and the rest apart fom stuart anderson who won the british champs that year.Jason is now very sadly missed by all.

I would like to say 'i am sure that due to his MTB success in later years I know that he would have given the UK The DH MTB world title. Im very proud to be a part of his history. JMC aka pure talent,  never to be forgotten'
