Gearing advice..
« on: February 24, 2007, 02:47 PM »
Hi guys, have taken my Kappa Starsky out for it's first ride today and found the gearing to be HARD going. Got 11t on the back and an old school Tuf Neck chain wheel at the front with 43t. Now I know this is way off the mark, but what would a sensible chain wheel size be at the front, just so it doesn't feel like i'm pedalling thru treacle!!!

Cheers,

Lloyd.

Cheers, fella. The Starsky is an absolute dream to ride otherwise tho. Tried a few basic trix and rode great!

Thanks again,

Lloyd

if you like the os ratio of 44:16 then work to the principle of 2.75

ie

44 divided by 16 is 2.75

so if you wanna run a 40t front sprocket then you will need

40 divided by 2.75 = 14.54....so 14t rear will be used......

etc etc

Dave
haro, how do you do

43-11 gearing? lol

still, once you got going . . . . .

if you had a 16t on the back that would be the equivalent of a 62 tooth chainring.
