odyssey gyro installation
« on: October 14, 2005, 09:46 PM »
Hi,

I have a odyssey gyro, but no fitting instructions.

I have a piece, like a plate that has a notich in it to fit under the headset nut.
Do i have to take my headset off to fit the lower bracket ?

Anyone have pictures ?

thanks

Yeah mate.

One piece fits under your headset cup, one piece under your locknut and the 'floating bit' with the bearings in it goes in between. The crack is to try and make as larger gap as is possible between the two fixed parts so you get plenty of clearance for when you pull the brake hard.  A wee spacer can help sometimes...

Next, adjust the gyro cables to their maximum (again, for clearance), then take the freeplay out of your lever using the adjusters up there.  Finally, dial in your brake by adjusting the cable down by the caliper.  Job's a good 'un!  :)

go to your local halfords and have a look at what it's like, if you have a camera phone you can take notes
