Thats so cool. Great soundtrack too. When that was first out in the magazines I was listening to loads of Van Halen. Oh it takes me back!

I think it was just in the american mag, freestylin'. All those pipe line comp were out of hand. Just another world of riding! I think any "pro" from the uk back then would struggle just to roll around in those bowls. Shows how good Campbell and Ruffell actually were as they rode pipeline well.

Yep - That combi pool in no joke, Mike ruled that comp that day. That tail wip fly out shows how agressive and inovative he was, plus the canyon air over the pool's opening....that was wicked, the transion is like 2ft-3 ft and the gap must be 7 ft?? way ballzy.

Yeah, that canyon was mental...  Mike D was truly amazing...  He ruled the park that day.

Is there more vid footage of that combi bowl contest anywhere? Ive only seen pictures of it. I think Mike D was my fav rider from back then. Didnt he 540 that same gap at the next comp? ... with tuffs!

Man, that ruled!!!! Thanks loads. Dominguez was the man!! so so good!

Watching Hugo ride is like watching Jerry Galley ride. The whole time you have a feeling that something really bad might happen. One with Hugo, it normaly did!

I tell ya, every time I watch that, Mike D gets radder...

I always think that the Fiola - Dominguez scenario is very similar to out Campbell - Ruffell situation.

Fiola / Campbell were the smooth, great riders, but would ride within what they knew were their limits.
Dominguez / Ruffell had real raw energy and were prepared to push themselves to new extremes.

Competition wise Fiola / Campbell had what it took to satisfy the judges, whereas Dominguez / Ruffell were the peoples champions....
