Hi,

Has anybody had thier frame re-chromed at Vert-ego?

What sort of price do they charge? Is it a good finish?

Cheers

He's charging £250 to do my Pro class frame forks and bars,Very expensive..........But i have tried 2 other chromers and they were a lot cheaper but the quality wasn't 100%.Hampshire electro platers charged £149 for my supergosse3 frame forks and crank there quality was about 98% very exceptable.the other chromers ...well they are crap and not woth mentioning.

Cheers guys, think I might have found one locally.

Just let them have some bars to start with, but thier webshite website looks promising.

Will post results as and when and if they happen.

Cheers

gettin old frames re-chromed is tricky business !! , the key is gettin a good polisher , the chome is only thin decorative chome  so the metal frame its self has to be spot on really .. but biagio has all the experience one can gain ...

Lee is spot here, the trick is to get the parts as polished as possible, a good chromer for a show chrome finish will apply the chrome in layers usually nickel and then chrome but can also use brass/copper.  The better the preperation the better the finish  :daumenhoch:

They managed it bitd well enough, you just have to invest some time, the bare metal does not have to be highly polished just smooth and free of contaminents, the layered plating gives it the final show quality shine....

Forks and cranks were painted black before plating, just stripped with nitromors quick once over with 240g wet and dry and then plated, chainring was just buffed up on a polisher  :daumenhoch:

Hayes Metal Finishers, Hayes Middx.  They are not bad, you have to be clear what you want them to do, I prepped them myself and got them to do a show chrome finish  :daumenhoch:.

The bloke that did my robinson wants his feckin hands cutting off! :'(

Well OVER polished. Be sure the chromer is used to doing cycles, and is not a butcher.
