GT 26'' CRUISER NEARLY FINISHED
« on: January 22, 2007, 06:23 PM »
Now for something a little different..... GT26'' Cruiser 1982.

Not something you see that often here in the UK. A friend found this back a couple of years ago in Cornwall. Later he wanted to go travelling and wanted to raise some cash. It was a chrome F&f although there wasnt much chrome left, just lots og nicket and rust. It looked real sweet in a ratty kind of way and it was a har decision to restore it. Rims came from Peter Power (cheers mate) over in Liverpoool which were a nice find on this side of the pond. Bars are repops from Johnny Chopper down under.

Red DX pedals were found in a box of old gear from a shop in Leeds, again for a price that would make your eyes water! and cranks from Biagio. I got a bit carried away there but the red annodising was a must and spot on for the year.

Just waiting for a red Shimano DX post and it will be good to go. I knew I shouldnt have sold the the one I had!

...... oh yeah and a chain - I have that, just been a little distracted the last couple of weeks!

Welcome to the club :)

GT 26's are a GREAT ride. I really like mine (1981 model). I ride this regularly, but with silver DX pedals, and a Kashimax MX (The blue Rat traps and Uni seat/GT cover are for show).

Nice to see a black GT 26 for a change :)

Cyclepros for show? No way. They get ridden :). Otherwise, they'll just end up dry rotted :)

They're Snakebelly Mountains, so they're fine. I'd like to put Comp III's on there, but then they'd wear out too fast :/
