remember when bmx got all colourful in the mid 80's?

anybody spray their bike up a funky colour?

here's my bike, mid 85



ace picture ;)
i sprayed the frame green, and later on did an orange candy stripe down the maintubes.

me and my mate sprayed his db silver streak frame in his bedroom. lol we couldnt breathe and there was a green double diamond shape on his bedroom wall for years after that

By god I did some orrible things


Did some sort of Jackson Pollack on a set of Landing Gear ...............thought they looked the nuts at the time

sprayed my first street beat blue, then green.....

i had a scooter which i sprayed orange and white...

all looked the biz.......well they did at the time.....  ;D

i think i resprayed my bikes every weekend got bored of the colour  :idiot2: i rember my dad respraying my old grifter in about 1980 he did it silver it was red  :daumenhoch:

did my scratched up blue burner in ermine white, with black forks, and black et style rear drops.

then stuck kuwahara stickers on it that i got from halfords.

it looked the bollocks, and was often commented on by the lads i rode with. Most wouldnt believe that i had done it myself, but i remember seing some guy painting a set of chrome forks with gloss blue brush paint, and then thought, well if thats your best effort.....lol.......I think the success of that bike was What got me into restoring stuff in the fisrt place.

I sprayed the yellow tuffs I got off my mates tuff burner black....looked o.k until the brake rubbed on the rim!!

Had my Gen 1 Freestyler powder coated green, other than that one I kept all my other bikes stock colours and never repainted.


Better to crash and burn than fade away

had my lovely nickel plated mongoose wire wheel powder coated in black  :idiot2: put black tuff 2s on it and mini renthal bars which got nicked from mi school bike shed.  :knuppel2: i know who yer are yer tw_t as well if yer reading this. it may be 26 years ago but every dog has its day  :knuppel2: :knuppel2: :knuppel2:

too much of summat led me to paint a perfectly lovely specialised hardrock velvet purple with yellow 'james' flowers to part way down the top tube  :idiot2:

i never got into painting my own stuff

but me pal wolly

painted his yellow tuffs with baby blue emulsion

when it wore off the brake line

we painted them biege

thing that still makes me laugh was the paint was leftovers

from his nans kahzee and frontroom :2funny:

I sprayed my Mk1 red Burner frame matt black and the black forks primer gray. That was about 1982.

painted me viper black and blue lol
then stripped with inspectormors
and rode bike whilst stripping paint. in shorts
and burnt all me bits inc legs lol

thought i would drag up an ancient thread.... ;)

i had my gen 1 haro shot blasted and powder coated white :idiot2:    all because i saw bob haro on TV with a white freestyler....



had a broken ankle in plaster in this shot too... :'(
