10mm wheels in newschool frame. can it be done?

can you fit 10mm wheels to a frame with 14mm dropouts?
as i wanted to go out on my daily ride, but wheels at mates having new hubs fitted.
got a pair of old wheels an wondered if i could bolt them on and ride them or i need to
try and blag some 14mm off someone else for a week.

yes ..you can buy make up washers at your bike shop....converts from 3/8 - 14mm
