The Grey DB Turbo
« on: December 26, 2006, 10:58 PM »
Hey y'all. ;)

I remember talking with somebody about this bike, after rooting around I got a catalog pic for ya.
This is from the 86 DB catalog.
The one year wonder, the alien "Grey" turbo all new for 86.
Someday I'll get everything I need & start on the DB site, there's still tons of info/pics left to be found. :-[

Enjoy. :daumenhoch:

This is as big as I can get it.

That's the one I mentioned in the other thread, only I forgot the guys ID.
He was asking a lot for that thing, that's why it never sold, plus the fact it was incorrectly finished. :(

Somebody asked about this one though,I finally got the image to post showing it as factory built. :)

It's still cool but I do prefer the looptails & large gussets. :daumenhoch:

I think Max's Turbo was an 84 small gussett done in 86 Factory Grey.
I have never seen the stock spec for the 86... Thanks for posting the pictures  :daumenhoch:
That Stem looks like an ESP Flying W Pro.  ???   The seat will be a long hard search for anyone restoring one  :(

I like the look of that, but do prefer the larger gusset (ooh err) and the loop tail stays.

BTW, what year did Raleigh buy Diamond Back?

I think the older turbo looks much more purposeful than that one with the seatpost angle the same as the head angle (is there a small gusset loop tail in grey or was that just a factory riders bike?)
Why oh why do I still buy kids bikes!

The small gussett looptail Turbo was only made 84/85 i think...  They had the same finish as the early Turbos and were literally the same spec except for Suntour XCII pedals and chrome DC Tech IV levers. I think Factory Grey was available in 86 only on the straight stay Turbo but i could be wrong  :)

I've got DB catalogs from 79,84,85 & 86.
I'll post pics of the Turbos,Harry did have a grey Turbo but I can't seem to locate the pic of it now. :'(
Not too many pics of him with it are around but I do have one somewhere, once I find it I'll post it. :)
