Sidehacks day out
« on: December 04, 2006, 12:26 AM »
As some of you know, me an 796 bought a sidehack frame recently, we finished building it this week  and we wanted to take it Braintree today but the wusses cancelled the meet :tickedoff:

Not to be beaten by the weather we decided to make a long overdue trip to the home of badbmx at daggers.
That track is so smooth, great jumps and in direct line with the wind off the North sea

Roonga popped down to see us, nice meeting you paul. He managed to witness us fold a mag wheel in half while sliding the hack out, his face was a pic :2funny:

Heres some pics an vids, yes most of em are solo, we never had a camera man

First pic after 796 decided to bale out

We used to break plastic wheels and shatter Z rims coming down Rancho's/Corona's first turn until we got wise to stick to motomags or spoked rims

Nice Hack!!!

Yeah like you stayed on long enough to find out, Every time I got near the side of the jump 796 bailed out...

We couldnt stop laughing all day, I couldnt get it to turn right, tone lent backwards instead of forwards and we ended up bailing out, just a complete giggle, some one has gotta sort another one out so we can race em....An I think Reilly1 should come over on holiday and give us some lessons :daumenhoch:

When the photographer from the French "Cream"magazine (BMX mag i think) was here last year for one of the gatherings, he asked me to tell him what sidehacks were all about.

I told him "Let me show you!" and told him to hop on the hack and speed down the road and kicked the hack into a three wheel drift.  He was pretty much screaming with laughter and terror as the hack kept on sliding until the side wheel shattered into 20 pieces.

He felt bad cause he thought he caused it.  I assured him he didn't and added that "THIS is what hacks are all about"  :)

Sorry to hijack your thread, but I'm all too familiar with all the fun involved with hacks...

I need clips to stop tony from bailing out!!!!! I think I might just have to cable tie his hands to the hack >:D

If anyone fancies a go, we will try and take it to Braintree in Feb, or daggers on a sunday

I'd love a go!!!! Will any kids be brave enough to co-pilot the fox?? ;D

Not sure if I'll be able to make it to Braintree in Feb because of the small matter of the missus having a baby then, but let me know when your next thinking of going to Daggers, it would be well worth a spin rounnd the M25 for a go on that beauty!

i'll ask him if he has any video of it ;)

he has 2 of these out of apparently less than 10 running examples in the whole world

that one in the pic was the bike ridden to the World Championship by a geezer called Hansi Bachtold back in the 80's
he also has an 800cc version that i've actually seen ridden by ex World Champ Hansi Bachtold at the ken Hall Trophy meeting held every August Bank Holiday weekend at Langrish in Hants!

its the one & only time i've ever seen an outfit stand up on the back wheel!

everytime he came past race control he had it up in the air, chair wheel too!

as its a 2 stroke you can imagine the sound too! when i saw it he had the 2 into 1 expansion chamber on there which is slightly less powerful but sounds amazing  :daumenhoch:

i'll ask Nid for more pics & info

i think he may be selling both of them as he's moving onto sidecar speedway & is underway building an R1 engined outfit at the mo! he's going speedway as too many years of MX has given him a bad back! well ever since the 2nd time he broke it anyway  :idiot2:
