tuff II advice
« on: November 22, 2006, 07:12 PM »
now this may be a really stupid question but hey everyone has to start somewhere :)
what type of tuffsII  have i got?
the front one has a different hub to the back, is that correct?
pictures ive seen of other pairs seem to have matching hubs front and rear?
are mine earlier type ones? and are they harder to come by?

the first ones wrer metal hubbed stainless steel i believe
the next ones were alloy hubbed both swheels (like the rear you have there)
the next where the plastic hubbed ones (like the front youve got there )
im not sure if they didi alloy back hub/plastic front hub sets like yours but the may well have cause loads of people have sets with one of each
the most desirabe depends on the build i suppose on a 78/79 bike metal hubbed
on and early 80s - 85 alloy
on a later bike plastic

(dont quote me on the dates just a rough guess )

mid 80's ones came with alloy rear and plastic front, late 80's ones came with plastic front and rear.

there is a few variations of the metal hubs....i have a few, then there was the alloy ones, then of course there was two variations of the graphite hubs....campy ones had a squarer cut to the star, the later ones looked like the alloy ones, both anno'd gold

hope that helps
