ID help please!
« on: November 06, 2006, 02:50 PM »
Hi All,

Can anyone shed any light on this for me?

I got this bike (the one on the left) back in the 80s and was told that it was a Burner. The guys over on raleighburner.com had never seen this bike before so I'm quite confused (it doesn't take much!).
The story is that my folks bought it from my godfathers bike shop in Clacton, Essex, which had imported it from Canada. The seat-tube and headbadge decals are from a Raleigh MX (as far as I know a bike exclusive to the US/Canada) (another bike I cannot find much info about), but were original to the bike.
THEN, today I see this on EBay, after chatting to the guy - he bought this from a bike shop in Clacton, Essex!!

Any help identifying this bike, or any information about the Raleigh MX would be most fantastic. cheers -HRZ-

Whatever it is, it's hard to find any information on it!
It'll be a shame if it is Rampar - my folks took it down the dump a while back! :(

Well I guess it could be...

Have a look at the ones on here though, they are all badged up as Rampar, Raleigh isn't anywhere on them.

Some do look very like your bike though I suppose.

PS don't think this bike is midschool though :LolLolLolLol:l

But the seatpost decal has the Raleigh/Ranpar 'R' on. ;)

It is a raleigh rampar......

I'm getting round to that conclusion, but there's more investigating to be done.

If anyone has ANY information about the Rampar R-10 or the Raleigh MX, I'd love to hear from you. :D

Hey Ratty, cheers for the help.:)
I've been in touch with Raleigh, but they aren't able to help much as most of the old schoolers don't work there anymore.
I've searched high and low to find out what this bike is / was, my best guess so far is it was a Rampar R-10 exported to Canada from The US, then imported to the UK. ?!? ???

I had a frame that looks identical to the top pic. Mine was a Repco (Aussie brand) They bought frames from all over the world and rebadged them. I think. last i saw of it, it was flying about 20 feet in the air and come down very badly.
