Paint removal???
« on: November 05, 2006, 04:10 PM »
Righto, im currently trying to strip the paint on some mx1000's, ive stripped the brakes and have had them sat in nitromors for 2 days, whilst some a large percentage of the paint has come off, some of its being mighty stubborn.
Maybe they use super strength pink paint :2funny:
Anyway, any ideas on what else i could use? i was thinking caustic soda maybe but im not sure if it will eat the alloy..
Any ideas appreciated

I had the same problem on a lavender set . . . don't use caustic as it can ruin the chrome on the QR levers

I used heat to shift the stubborn paint in the end . . . worked a treat  :daumenhoch:

cover the part in nitromors, then wrap the bits in cling film or tin foil, dont know why but this makes the stripper a bit stronger......

Dave

It's because there is less oxygen so it stays moist for longer  :daumenhoch:
