Frame and forks ID ?
« on: September 19, 2005, 09:50 PM »
hey everyone first post here.

Just dugout an old frame and forks from the garage and wondering if somone can help me identify them as to what they are.

The frame is the only one I have ever seen of its kind. Both the top tube and the downtube are oval. Dont know if this really shows up on the pics. Someone has suggested that it might be a late raleigh burner and from the R thats cutout of the forks I think it might be a raliegh? I have no idea otherwise . What do you guys think ?

I also have a set of Tear drop shaped forks but havnt got any pics at the moment. Will post later though.

Adam

Deffo MkII Raleigh Burner.

Anything on the brake bridge? Could be a Chrome Burner or stripped Niight Burner too?

On the bridge plate it says FULL CR.MO . I'm guessing these are pretty common then. I never seen another like it tough.

Meanwhile I took some pics of the forks. I'm pretty sure these do not go with the frame but you never know.

Prolly a super/super tuff then.  Don't know about the forks though - don't look the right ones.

Have a go on raleighburner.com - there'll be someone there who can tell you for sure.  :)

yeah a burner for sure!  I have one exactly the same in my office at work (don't ask) it has the gold stuff stripped too.

If anyone wants it they can have if they want?

no worries mate, the only problem with it is the seat post is stuck in the frame.

It is only the frame, i have no forks to go with it.

PM me and we can sort it out mate

Full CrMo makes it a Mk II Super Tuff

David Beckham used to ride one if you saw the photos in the Mirror earlier this week!  :)

Forks look like they came from an Aero Pro Burner (Tange):

Click below to see this one in the '83 2nd Ed Burner Brochure!

Hope this helps.
Cheers
