Redline pads - 4 poppers and 5 poppers frame pads
« on: October 13, 2006, 11:42 AM »
Whats the difference (apart from the obvious)

Been offered this set but what is with the 4 popper frame pad is it correct? I have only ever seen 5 popper ones.

Advice needed.

Jim,

You need to check the poppers for staming inside refer back to the osbmx site and in trash talking there is a long thread about identifying originals from reproductions.

Jim:

I've read all the stuff over on OS and even added a little to the conversation.

My conclusion is that if your happy with the price and they really are what you want to finish your build then just go for it, buy them regardless (i.e. not for the resale value).

Its not about the money anyways, its like art - buy it if you like it.

I'd buy a set of repro pads for the same amount of money that I'd pay for an original set - Only I would never pay too much for an original set  ;)

hope that helps a little?

I agree Diesel, I have bought repro Patterson pads because the likleyhood of originals coming up is slim, but even these aren't cheap.

The pads will set off the bike real nice and as can be seen from the other thread, there aren'y many folk on the planet who can positively id the real ones from repros anyway - face bothered!!!

I know, I'm in the print trade to (24 years under my belt) and it seems the original ones were "printed" transfers onto the pad. A lot like the repros today. Not screenprinted as I originally thought.

I don't give a shite what they are as long as they look good.

JUST SELL ME  A FRAME PAD!  :LolLolLolLol:
