Freewheel removal
« on: October 14, 2006, 12:19 PM »
I need to fit a new freewheel to this tuff.  The original cog was secured by way of an arched shape type clip (now removed) Do i need a special tool to remove the remaining part?  If so, Is there a way to remove without special tool? Will this wheel then accept a regular type freewheel?

Any help appreciated, cheers.

Your pretty much stuck with that hub. I hope you didn't throw the clip away. They're not easy to find. I'm afraid your stuck with the hub as is. The threaded freewheels are a completely different hub.

This is the hub you have.

The hub your thinking of is the alloy hubbed threaded freewheel. I don't have a pic of one at the moment though.

coastvl is right, what you have there is a cassette hub......

cassette hubs are rarer than the freewheel variety....im pretty sure they are the same size sprocket as a coaster fitting...try biagio or alans.

Dave
haro, how do you do
