Ratty or anyone else - Whats This Redline ??
« on: October 07, 2006, 10:21 AM »
Been looking at this for a few days now but can't seem to figure out what it is
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=011&item=320034446604&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1
I live close to warrington and was  thinking of going for a look at it but wondered if it was worth it first.
Cheers

I have been watching that one. I think its a 600a. There is a thread on here somewhere and tells you how to date it from the S/n.
Theres some good parts on it, the Ukais are worth a nifty. the brake at least a pony. Stem (my one cost me £30 and wasnt as nice as that one). I would go for it if I had the money at the mo. I dont think its an mx2, I cant remember any being chrome! But I may be wrong...

If its not too far, contact him and pop over and have a look, take the cash with you, he is open to offers so £150 cash on his doorstep may well seal the deal...

Good luck and let us know how you get on if you decide to have a go..

RA = 1981
RB = 1982
RC = 1983
RD = 1984

I thought it was a 500a, but am no expert. I just know I love a Redline

Good to see we are getting a few more on here now.  :daumenhoch:

definetly 1983.  the forks are wrong to be a proline. i'm with ratty, mx2's were painted red or blue. 500a/600a depends on whether full or tri- moly. it's an early 80's redline that's a great start :smitten:

I have a pdf scan of the colour advert. If someone can tell me how to post it I will.

It has the specs too.

file size is 916kb - too big for the attachment below.

I just had a look at his feedback and he paid £157 + £20 postage so i think £160 seems fair.If it had have been bought for £100-120 i would have used that as a bargaining tool tomorrow.Thanks for the info. :daumenhoch:

I just got back , I didn't buy  ??? , there was too much corosion in certain places that had gone too deep into the metal work , around the gussett, around the BB, at the top of the seat tube , etc etc . A full rechrome won't be cheap but getting the frame and forks powder coated will only cost £40 but i don't want a white bike  :'( .I'm glad i went and had a look though  :). The only problem i have now is that i have a spare £160 burning a hole in my pocket ( no i aint getting a round in  :2funny: ) Ahh well , Ebay is calling  ;D

whats the problem with shipping to the UK, ratty? i've managed to get a 90's F/F (see my thread in the mid section), a 1983 proline F/F and a 1980 MX2 frame sent here to Aus in the last month from the US  :smitten:

Not really a major problem, Just that 3 nice redline prolines been on there recently and they wouldnt ship to the uk, despite my pleading, and the worst part was they only went for just over £100. So I got a bit of a downer on them at the moment,
I have bought a few bits from the states without hitch, just them blinkin prolines :(
