« on: May 03, 2021, 04:38 PM »
Let's see what you have for May 2021: daumenhoch:

- Please post a full build spec for your entry.
- You may post a maximum of 4 pictures of your bike ( no tiled images - 4 individual pictures )
- You MUST still own the bike you enter.
- Any entrant found 'canvassing' for votes or other forums/social media sites will have their bike removed.
- You do not need to have finished this month. As long as it has not been in BOTM before you can enter.
- All entries must be in before the 1st of the following month or they will be removed.

Something very old for you all.

Back in 1972 Rick Twomey of Rick's Bike Shop came up with a new radical design of bike, he took a Schwinn Stingray and changed the front end and produced the first ever 'diamond' frame shape, a design that has been with us from that very time and is what started BMX (or BX as it was originally known).

This is a replica of one of those original team bikes as ridden by Dave Clinton, John Palfreyman, Thom Lund and Doug Takahashi.

Parts:

Frame:  1972 Schwinn Stingray modified
Forks:  Schwinn Stingray
Headset:  Schwinn
Stem:  Schwinn Gooseneck
Bars:  Unknown
Grips:  OGK
Seat Clamp:  Schwinn
Seat Post:  Schwinn
Seat:  Troxel
Cranks:  Schwinn
Chainring:  Takagi
Pedals:  Union
Chain:  Union
Rims:  Moped
Hubs/Spokes:  Front - Normandy, Rear - Shimano Coaster, spokes - 12g Heavy Duty
Tyres:  Raleigh
Number Plate:  Peston Petty

Thanks Stidds, wow what a huge compliment from you, with your builds and bikes in your stable, I'm chuffed with your comment. That's good enough for me !

Your Schwinn is something else though, a true genesis build, real insight, determination and passion is required to pull off a build like yours. Amazing build with a stunning result. Respect

The competition looks very impressive so far this month, but thought I?d throw my new build in the hat seeing as I finished it on Saturday. I could have rebuilt it with all the original parts, but I wanted something shiny to ride this summer so a mix of old and new parts.

Frame:         1983 SE Racing Quadangle
Forks:          1983 Landing Gear
Headset:      Tange MX 320
Stem:           Hutch Deep H
Bars:            Robinson Expert
Grips:           Ame
Seat Clamp:  Hutch Donut
Seat Post:    Nitto CrMo
Seat:            SE
Brakes:         Dia Compe MX1000, Tech 4 Levers
Cranks:         Redline Flights 180mm
Chainring:     Pro BMX
Pedals:         Wellgo
Chain:          Izumi
Wheels:       Skyway Tuff's
Tyres:          Kenda Whitewalls
Sprocket:     Shimano

Apologies for the photo quality, it's been raining in Coventry since last Tuesday so i havent been able to get it outside.
