1988 is normally outside of my collecting window. I swore I'd end my goose collection at 1986, then a few years back got an 87 and now this lol

My youngest has grown out of the little 84 mitygoose and said - dad I want a mongoose with baby blue parts.... so I was thinking of going full custom like the pink mini I did for my eldest years ago but then this complete survivor 88 mini californian popped up so since it's kinda got baby blueish in the decals I thought we could work with that and it's a bike and year that I didn't have in the collection.

The original owner literally loosened the stem to spin the bars 90 and took the front wheel off to post - the back wheel looks like it's never moved from originally assembly - OG tyres the lot - a true time capsule.

So.... it's gonna get it's baby blue parts as per the youngest's desires and some new road friendly tan wall tyres and we'll enjoy building it together but we'll keep all the OG bits safely tucked away and I thought I should just get a couple of snaps of the old girl before she gets her overhaul.......

That's minty, very nice. The blue should work well on the grey and compliment the blue in the decals. Nice combo

. Agree, the blue accenting should tie in with the decals very nicely.

Enjoy the build with your youngest. I so tried to get each of mine into BMX as they grew up (2 girls & a boy), but none of them persisted

Well when you say into BMX.... I don't think either of mine will be doing tailwhips any time soon like

but.... they've both enjoyed riding a bike throughout their childhood (adulthood now for the eldest

) and I've just always made sure that it's always been on an old school goose........

I toyed with that idea initially.... problem is the only baby blue I could find were the re-issue Haro tyres and they don't come in a 20 x 1 3/8 and this bike has to keep it's 20 x 1 3/8 pro class wheels
