Thanks mate, this is the the fourth Firebird I’ve tried. I always wanted one back in the day. When getting back into it I tried 2 gl +’s and a Mk 1 freestyler , I couldn’t get to grips with the builds and wasn’t happy so moved them on. This time I was determined to put together something I would be happy with and will also be turning up on , on the ride outs. At last I think I got there.

I’m doing it using Tapatalk. I switch between that and normal phone browser when using the forum. That’s why I made two posts and collaged some of them because on Tapatalk you can only do 9 at once.

i've had 4 or 5 of these now & only ever built one of them & i've ultimately sold all of them on without regret .

they were all painted mk 2's & i just cant seem to get excited abut them,  i think because they had a reputation for snapping around our way as 2 of my mates broke theirs very quickly when we were kids ..

i do however i remember the advert for this chrome mk2 vividly with the flames & loved the combination of chrome with the red & black decals which always looked really cool to me & i've always had a soft spot for this combination.

At the back of my mind this is the version i always wanted to build, so i'm really digging this build (lots) Love it . fistblump explosion

I was really happy with how this turned out in the end but was gutted I couldn't let the guy I bought it from know how it turned out.
I got it from eBay, travelled down with my youngest to pick it up. The guy welcomed us both in made us a cuppa and showed me some photos of it when he got it back in the 80's. I said when it was done I?d send him some pics. Time went by and eBay erase old purchases so I couldn't contact him. Today I was looking/ erasing old photos on my phone and came across a screen shot of his eBay username and addy I?d taken to put in my sat nav. I sent him some pics and let him know the journey his old bike had been on . He was really chuffed and said he felt quite emotional reading my message and seeing his old bike brought back to glory and enjoyed. It was a lovely ending to the build and I was really glad he approved.

Well it's been over a year since this got finished and I had put a few bits to one side to change over to keep the bike fresh in my mind. Even though these have been strange times the bike has still had three outings now. I've got a bit of time on my hands at the moment so thought I?d swap a few bits out. Before sourcing the ladder bars with this ff I had already got hold of some kuwahara bravo freestyle bars. I had them chromed and got them out today. The bars , a nice survivor set of unitrons, the buffs freshly laced to nos z hubs. The tyres are repop but this is one of my riders.
Looking forward to to being fit enough soon to be out on this. The rake on the bravo bars feels a load better. I had a soft spot for these after seeing how cool they looked on Steve Costa's orange / white build from years back.

I was going to at one point but I wanted to run the pads and I?d already had them made. Also the headtube angle on these when running the hutch stem leaves the bars hitting the seat anyway. So I?d have just been putting it on to look at. I could lower the seat a bit but really I just wanted the bike to look decent. My freestyle and race days are over, the bike just gets ridden on the meet up/ pub rides so I'm happy with the set up the way it is.
