SE Assassin
« on: April 01, 2020, 08:27 PM »
I've just bought a Assassin, I'm more of a old school guy but really liked these when I saw one at a meet last summer, my question is
Which size headset do I get for it ?
What rear brake after gold ?
Also what bars do you recommend ?

Forgot to say I've only bought frame and forks

Thanks for your help

Warner I'm pretty sure they run an external 1-1/8" headset so it comes with cups to press into the frame like an old school, just bigger.

The brake looks like a "v" brake and I'm sure Shimano make colours so an eBay search should bring up coloured ones  :coolsmiley:
Still limping......

You can run a v-brake but the frame has a hanger/stop for a canti brake.Try Crucial BMX in the race section for coloured v-brakes (Shimano v-brakes generally are all black, grey or silver) and also for headsets.

It has a cable stop on the frame, you should run a Canti style brake rather than V brake.  That would be era correct and look far nicer than a V brake.

The headset wouold be a normal 1 & 1/8th A headset, something like an FSA PIG would suit it really well  :daumenhoch:

Well I finished the build with a mix of old school and mid school parts, the levers are temporary as I've ordered some gold tech 4s , I've ordered some custom Assassin made pads, but I think it looks appealing
