22 inch wheel owners
« on: December 05, 2015, 11:42 AM »
Hi

Who on this site is riding 22" ?

I've seen a bike from ( I think) Chris the job, but who else is there and is there a page just for us like there is on bmxmuseum? If not should we start one?

Here's my beast with an old Peregrine lever

and some dubs that i use

Excuse my other bike!

I fookin love you Griff :2funny:

Yep had one of those "made from girders" Faction Zeitgeist's for years and love it...well except for the wieght

Rode it at loads of ramp nights and the missus uses it to chase after our kids in park when I'm not riding it :coolsmiley: Was going to buy an Almero kit but other stuff got in the way. ...  :-\

Aaah. Good to see more owners.

But seems like this size is not as popular as it is in the States. True? Are S&M's easy to buy here, or is it a special order?

And that Standard frame is lush.

Chris, are you he that was interviewed by G. French in Ride UK?

George didn't interview me, it may have been Keith from faction.  I once caused an apoplectic George French response in ride after a letter under an assumed name, and I also used it write for ride, but that is another story or two!

I fancy a bit of 22" action but they are a bit thin on the ground maybe I should chuck some 22 rims on my 24 subrosa if I can find some.

They are just that bit more comfortable to cruise on for big old men but still feel very much like a BMX. Unlike 24" which don't feel like a BMX.

See there are a few more 22" wheel bikes out now.
Anyone else got one recently. Seem to find myself tempted!  :uglystupid2:

Well I currently have a set of 22" wheels sitting there awaiting a frame to be built.
Tried to see if they would fit in the Curtis (OS20) but it just wont clear the rear stays.

Looking forward to it though.

So.... is a 22" more "forgiving" for a fat old guy just wanting to "roll around" the skate park ? :-\

Yeah it is more forgiving.
Its like riding a 20 and also a cruiser.
Its lazy like the cruiser but you can still move it about like a 20.

However my experience with the 22 is having one set up more for a race scenario, more slack and so forth.
If you can pick one up cheap then go for it

John, they're great to ride, especially at a track or trails. I ride mine at Bolehills when my 9yr old lad goes there on his race bike

I've taken mine to Terminal One and the old Boardroom a few times and had a good ride on it, still able to turn on a quarter fine.

What model you thinking of buying? My Faction Zeightgeist is great but it weighs a ton, they made a lighter model called the Almera and I'm sure S&M made a cracker with super light parts :daumenhoch:

Might be great to ride but looks all wrong and out of proportion to me?  ???
