Home Made Freestyle Forks
« on: February 18, 2019, 02:20 PM »
I`ve had this idea for a while ... I`ve got an old Firebird frame in the loft but the forks went missing years ago . I don`t expect to ever find any replacements so I thought why not make some ugly freestyle forks out of something easily available ?
I got these for free locally : NOS Raleigh Burner I believe , they are only steel but the bike won`t be ridden so they are ideal ...

Okay , I`m happy with that . I welded up the holes in the dropouts ( they are going to get a bit of a reshape ) and tack welded the pegs to the forks just to check everything was working . A quick check with a test wheel as well ...

Good skills there fella  :daumenhoch:  I thought you were gonna make some Dp forks from scratch for a minute there  I've actually seen some forks on a shopper bike or something that actually looked like the firebird forks until they got to the bottom where they bolted to the wheel? but with those skills you could maybe chop and change them,I'll try to find them  :)

Definitely mate . I`ve also got an 85 GT Performer with missing forks ( where did all my forks go ? ) so I`ll be on the lookout for other scrap / unwanted forks to experiment with .
Cheers for the comments  guys   :)
