Suzue Hubs with different axle sizes
« on: January 11, 2019, 06:46 PM »
Hi all,

I have a set of 36 hole Suzue hubs that came off some Araya 7x 24" rims, the hubs are both dated  6 G (1976 July).

The front axle thread is 8mm (5/16") compared to the standard 10mm (3/8") I have read that this was common on mid 70's to very early 80's. Also the rear axle is longer on the drive side would this indicate that it had a cassette?

My question is what bike would these of been on? A roadbike? - did the front dropouts accept a smaller axle bitd?

Cheers

Found this info on the museum

If the rear is 3/8", then the front is probably 5/16". This was quite standard in the 70's and early 80's.
