Hi all, thanks for an incredible weekend again, great laughs, incredible bikes, tons of cuddles, loads of dancing and bloody good food too.... well done to everyone that organised it and made it happen, you are awesome.

But I read online on FB that this was the last MK, is that the truth? Be gutted if that is the last one ever, such a superb event :'( :-[

When one door closes another one opens , Gosport 1 ! It could be a thing , you could all come round my house and we’ll have a right good tear up , bmx track down the road and southsea skatepark just across the water .
As always there are rules , no fires and no beastiality.
I may have to run this by the wife but I’ve got 12 months to work on her .

Nick made an announcement after the raffle/prize giving on Sunday. This may well be the last RAD event held at MK, as the event has outgrown the site in some ways. We are going to explore the possibility of finding a more suitable venue for the future. Keep checking back for info. Was great to see you Matt, if only for a swift cuddle. It felt good though  :)

In all fairness, the early MK events and the site itself were perfect as the racing was an integral part of the event and run by the MK BMX Club, which was great as it left the RADmins to concentrate on all the stuff going on in the main arena. But, there hasn’t been any racing for about 3 years now, so although some may be disappointed, I don’t see any reason to host an event at a site with a track.

I do however feel that the lake ride is important and brings a great sense of unity over the weekend, more so than the Dog & Duck IMHO, so if another event is planned and a new venue found, even if not a lake, a planned, safe, off-road group ride is a must.

The choice of 2 hotels in close proximity to the site has also been a huge bonus over the years too and personally this is also something to consider when looking to relocate.

Whatever the future, and if another event continues, the spirit of MK and the superb organisation from the RAD Team will reign on.  :radbmxsmilie:

the proximity of the hotels is both a blessing and a 'challenge' for a few reasons

Being tied to the track means fitting in with club racing schedule
Fitting in with schedule means waiting till late Jan/early Feb (at earliest) to find out dates
Even knowing that far in advance doesn't help when you have things like Silverstone Endurance taking up all the rooms in a 50 mile radius / jacking the room price by more than 100%

H&S restrictions limit how many people can come in, so we need 24/7 security on top

So that's what we're working with, it would be cool if we could go bigger/later/provide facilities and if we had a building where stands could be set up and securely locked overnight. I don't have any answers but if anyone has a mate with an airfield.........? :D

I have a mate with a farm, no hotel close by though, only the factory that makes the wings for the Airbus A380.

I’ve just got off the phone with Lenny. He’s come up with a few good suggestions. Hopefully we’ll find a venue that suits us

It's a shame the old 210 Eagles track in Reading is in such poor condition. A huge car park right beside it , a huge park on the other side of the road (which often holds events), the railway station is 1 minutes ride away and many hotels within 5 minutes ride away.
