New build start at last......Now Completed
« on: July 02, 2018, 09:43 PM »
After months of sourcing parts, finally spent a very enjoyable evening in the sunshine starting the build.
Cranks will be removed tomorrow and replaced by NOS Sugino 3 piece with red chainring.
The custom colour decals produced by Del look great and really suit the build colour scheme.
Still looking for a NOS seat clamp and brake levers / callipers to replace the repro ones I have at present.
Everything else is NOS except for the survivor chrome frame.
I realise that Akisu frames don't have much kudos in the old school bmx community.
However, this is my most personal build and a thank you present to my 85 year old Dad.

Forget kudos, there's nothing wrong with that mate (apart from pulling the bars back a bit!) :daumenhoch:

Plus personal builds are always special, especially when the sun's shining! 8)

Ok riders, random start. Riders ready, watch the gate old gaijin make a fool of himself! :D

Got the initial build finished this afternoon.

Spec as follows:

1983 Akisu MX Cr-Mo f&f in survivor chrome
NOS Hsin Lung CW style bars
NOS SM Mushroom Grips
NOS Profile stem
NOS Aero pad set
NOS Meng Jing layback post
NOS Aero saddle
NOS Sugino spider
NOS Sugino CT 3 piece crank
NOS SR Custom pedals
NOS Weinmann rims (shiney sided)
NOS high flange SR hubs
NOS Mirage number plate
NOS bottom bracket & headset
NOS bottom bracket boot
NOS Landar axle nuts
Izumi chain

Repro Dia-Compe lever
Repro Dia-Compe caliper
Repro Dia-Compe seatpost clamp
Repro Tyres
Repro custom decals from Del.

Will continue to look for sensibly priced parts to replace the repro stuff and need to shorten the brake cable!

I'm pleased with the way it has turned out and can now concentrate on the Falcon Pro Beta 24 build which I am actually intending to ride when finished.
