So with a collection full of USA made bikes I have finally gone and bought a taiwanese Mid School project. I always loved how the racers back in the early 90's were able to win motos but also shred the trails and street, often on the same bike. Fuzzy Hall was one of the guys that really influenced me back then for this very reason, and I have been thinking about building a tribute bike for a while.
Well last week a lovely survivor Solutiuon popped up on Facebook, and the project was on. Fuzzy rode a cromo Solution for 3 years, and his build changed slightly over that time. I am going to use a mix of parts that he used over this time, and keep it all survivor / true to era. Most of it is pretty easy / affordable, but the cranks and wheels are going to hurt a bit.
The frame as I bought it.
And some reference of Fuzzy's bike from the era.
I have already managed to chase down a few bits for it, including some forks, stem, grips, lever, and brakes. I also managed to get a nice set of used Dura Ace hubs on Japanese Ebay which are on their way.
Closer to home the 26mm seapost, double bolt seatpost clamp, and Mongoose Velo seat have turned up.
And I couldn't resist fitting them while I wait for all the other bits to turn up.
I will keep the thread going as I make progress, but if anyone has any leads on a set of 90-93 Mongoose 4 piece bars please let me know.
