Making your own cranks
« on: March 14, 2018, 12:24 PM »
Anyone done it or ordered as set made?
Thinking of having a bash but torn between a tubular welded set or a more tradition aluminium billet job.
Also welcome your thoughts on spindles, square taper, splined etc
Sixteen thirty-two. What is that? A year?   No, it's your top score on Pole Position.

Great! Keep. Coming lads. I do like the idea of box cranks or Ali ones that look boxy. Got some hex tubing in work that keeps whispering in my ear

Right . I've narrowed it down to a few ideas. Welcome you thoughts lads  :daumenhoch:

1. Skyway TA stylee aero crank arms in 4130 with welded ends
2. True oval British T45 tubing crank arms with welded ends
3. TT Racing / jam buttie inspired Aluminium crank arms. (These would involve more work by myself)

what do we rec?

I like all of the options but if you do a TA style areo tubing set, what about having a car fin style back of spindle end like this shitey microsoft word mockup:

If there is the room, you could stamp a logo in to it like the pointy bit at the back of a GT Performer  :daumenhoch:

If I did go the aero route the pedal and axle spindle holes would be set in rather than welded on the end. Much stronger imo
